How do I connect to Wayport’s service?

  1. Start with your Wi-Fi-enabled device turned off.
  2. Turn your device on and ensure that it is connected to the Wayport_Access SSID/Network Name.
  3. Launch your Internet browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer) and you should see the Wayport® Welcome Page. Select a connection option and within seconds, you can be online. If you do not see the Wayport Welcome Page, you may need to configure the SSID or Network Name to Wayport_Access.

What computer hardware will I need to establish a connection via Wi-Fi?
You will need a Wi-Fi-enabled device or a device with a separate 802.11b or 802.11b/g wireless card.

If I purchase a connection, how many devices will get access?
A single Wayport connection is valid for a single computer or device.

Can I access my corporate network when using Wayport’s services?
Wayport’s network supports most VPN software clients, enabling you to connect to your corporate network safely and securely. Wayport blocks specific ports that are known security threats on the Internet, but this should not interfere with the connectivity of VPN software. If you are having trouble connecting to your VPN after you have clicked through the Wayport Welcome Page, please contact either Wayport Technical Support at 1-877-Wayport or speak with your IT department.

Which ports are blocked by Wayport?
TCP traffic on port: 80 inbound, 135 inbound
UDP traffic on port: 8998
TCP and UDP traffic on ports: 137-139, 445, 1433, 1434, 1720, 2000, 8083, 8084, 8081

How do I connect to Wayport’s service using my VPN?
First, connect to Wayport’s service through the Wayport Welcome Page. Once you have established a connection, then you can launch your VPN client.

What is Wayport’s Network Name or SSID?
Select Wayport_Access.

If I want to send email from a Wayport hotel, what outgoing mail server (SMTP) should I use?
In order to send mail on Wayport’s network, you will need to specify our outgoing mail server ‘mail.wayport.net.’  You can also use the IP address for this server, which is 64.134.255.6.
